Athens 2004 Olympic Games
Corporate Hospitality For Visa

How better to celebrate the dynamic Olympic spirit than with dynamic, colorful lighting? As a sponsor of the 2004 Olympic Games, Visa chose just that for its festive, corporate hospitality venue in Athens.

Color Kinetics’ intelligent LED lighting technology made a lasting impression on the 2,200 guests of Visa’s successful hospitality program, which was planned and executed by SportsMark Creative Services. In line with its goal to maximize brand exposure for Visa and weave a consistent look throughout the hospitality events, SportsMark enlisted the services of lighting designer Nick Whitehead to create ambience with a vibrant and colorful lighting scheme. London-based Creative Technology supplied a complete technical package for the venue, which called for ColorBlaze® 48 and ColorBlast® 12 units to generate a number of eye-catching, wall-washing effects. For example, as pictured here, a 40-foot (12-meter) wall-spanning athlete graphic was uplit by 10 ColorBlaze 48 units. The high-performance, 4-foot (1.2 meter) units projected rich, colored light with output that easily reached the venue’s ceiling, and their on-board power supply made for simple installation – a key benefit for the rental package. A series of customized lighting effects were programmed and controlled with a standard DMX system.

When it comes to big, dynamic lighting effects in a small package, LEDs take the gold.
