COLOR KINETICS EARNS ADDITIONAL PATENT
COVERING INTELLIGENT POOL AND SPA LIGHTS
Boston, MA - August 31, 2005 - Color Kinetics Incorporated (NASDAQ: CLRK), a pioneer of intelligent solid-state lighting systems and technologies, today announced the issuance of its fourth patent relating to intelligent pool and spa lights, broadening the company's protection in these markets.
US patent number 6,936,978, issued on August 30, relates to remotely controlled illumination of liquids. It describes various methods and apparatus for remotely controlling a variable color (hue, saturation) and intensity of light output from an LED-based pool or spa light.

Color Kinetics holds three additional U.S. patents relating to various aspects of color-controllable pool and spa lighting systems, including retrofit systems and custom solutions designed to exhibit the practical and aesthetic benefits of intelligent solid-state lighting.
